I don't mean music / foley / dialogue, etc. I'm curious as to whether, from a commercial or artistic point of view, there are any accepted 'types' of overall sound production sound for moving images.

I've noticed that Radium Audio have compiled their show-reel content under separate headings....i.e. 'Cinematic' or 'Motion-o-sonic' to categorise for their audiences and prospective clients.

In light of the technological advances in digital animation and audio synthesis, commercial visual media seems to be overflowing with glitchy audio synced animation idents and art (which can be incredibly effective). Is there an accepted level of pigeon-holing or categorisation of works within the industry, or is this just clever marketing?

I hope that makes sense? Sometimes I really need to stop thinking so much!..

Cheers
