Hey everyone, I'd love to get some feedback here for this short 27 second clip that I sound designed.

It is a piece I made for fun and then turned into a more serious work. It is a redesign of a section of a trailer for a game called Child of Eden which this game originally is an interactive music game that you play with XBox motion sensor.

The graphics are so stunning and at times overwhelming that I had a hard time filling it in with my own sounds and having it fit.

It would be great if I could get some feedback on it because I want to finish it up and have it sound right and nice.
Almost all the sounds were made by me minus 3 or 4 whooshes that I added last minute from a stock library.

I also tried to keep the game somewhat musical and and aurally beautiful.

Still though I feel something may be missing or some parts may not be arranged the way they should be but I don't know why yet...the music is not my making and maybe I should take it out but it's only there for a few seconds..

Hi Everyone,

I've cut together my first linear audio reel and was hoping a few of you might tear it apart before I plaster it all over the place, burn a big stack of DVDs and pound some pavement in 2012.

www.vimeo.com/lucafusi/reel

The intended purpose of the reel is to be a general overview of liner audio work I've done that I could send along as an introduction, or burn to DVD alongside an couple of other clips. Mostly I'd be looking for notes like, this pacing was too quick, I couldn't read X, you don't need to show clip Y, the whole thing was too long, stuff like that.

Specific notes on the quality of the work are helpful, but for the most part these productions are what they are and what I have to work with right now. That said, I could always do a bit of remixing if anything really sticks out.

Thanks so much for watching, I truly appreciate the help.

Hit me with critical.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rO8BrDJbL8&context=C3b05fd2ADOEgsToPDskKQtOpX1iUCRYr3CGmsQswg

It was weird using xylophone, it had such an overwhelming amount of sound around 300Hz. The most interesting noise is the "tinkely sound" for the snake: that was tapping bricks covered in broken champagne flutes with tiny spanners.

I went into it trying to do this again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRRn73dTItM
but to have more long form musicality in the samples, and for them to be more reflective of what was on screen, which was really made it difficult to have the repetition of sources that I think this sort of thing might need to have.

cheers for your time.

Hello there soundies.

I would love some constructive feedback on my creative sound project that I am currently working on for uni. You can view it here - The Arrival on Vimeo.

I am creating sound and music for a graphic novel that I scanned and turned into video.

I aim to create a soundtrack that is reflective of the book's visual style and shows the world from the character's point of view.

It features artwork from Shaun Tan's graphic novel, The Arrival - shauntan.net

Sound used is both my own field recording and foley work as well as sound libraries including freesound.org, Sound Library by Stephan Schutze and Logic's library.

I appreciate any feedback you can offer as it is an essential element of my project.

Hello. I'm a wannabe sound designer. All times i'm trying to learn as much as i can by reading, watching, listening and trying. Before I start working with young filmmakers in no-budget productions, I want to build my portfolio by re-designing the sound of my favourite movies. So here is one of those. I recorded everything by myself with a Zoom H4 and a Rode NT1 (except guns). The most difficult part was ADR as I havent got professional actors to record the dialogues. I would appreciate any feedback.

so here it is---

Hey All,

This is my first time posting! I wanted to get some feedback on my sounds. I've been designing sound for Radio for years...I got sick of typical cheesy stuff I was forced to produce with and started making my own. Now I'm looking at taking my sound design into TV/Film. Just a couple simple things to check out...I'd appreciate any feedback/criticism/love/coffee.

Thanks!

Let's say I had a mic on a gooseneck on a podium, and the PA was blaring and very loud.

The gooseneck is pretty much bolted to the floor.

There is usually a huge feedback ring around 250-300.

Could this theoretically be caused by a sympathetic vibration from the floor of the stage as well as the neck of the gooseneck?

How would one go about isolating a gooseneck such as a podium mic from the floor or any other surface which might be rumbling?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi all,
I'm relatively new to doing sound design so I was hoping that I could get some critiques from the community :)
My background is in musical composition; I actually just got my undergrad degree in piano performance, though I composed a rather large amount, too. I feel that I have strong analytical abilities that help me create sound designs that are very unified to the whole project, but I feel that my economy of expression may need a boost hehe
The Mass Effect trailer is my most recent attempt and the short film is from about a month ago. I'm trying to assemble a nice portfolio for grad school.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can give!
Thanks!

I want to apply to do a placement in the summer or possibly even a year long placement (either in UK or USA, although i would preffer USA).

Things I would do differently after watching it again:

Offset the track so it has the proper echo delay.

Found more crumbling sounds for the roof caving in (but they would have to be the proper perspective i.e. you wouldn't hear rocks crumbling from that far away).

Balanced it out so it builds more and climaxes better.

Added more distant echo rumbles.

You can check it out at thedoorpost.com. Just wanted to see what people thought of the dialogue clarity as well as the SFX and sound design.

Hi,

I recently worked on a self-funded (no budget) project and I am looking for feedback on my work. A questionnaire is online for you to fill in. Below, you can find three links; a link to the finished movie (1), a link to the picture edit before any audio post work was carried out (2) and a link to a questionnaire I would ask you to fill in (3).

For reasons you will understand, the director does not want the movie to be openly distributed. Both videos are password protected and you will therefore need to send me a private message before I can send you the password to watch the video.

However, I am monitoring my emails most of the day and am quite responsive (within 10 minutes in average) so please ask for access! Thanks in advance for your time and comments.

I am creating a page on my site that is designed to get people to take a sound I recorded and manipilate it into something new. Then post the new manipulated sound for others to hear. I think it would be a good way to get feedback on your work and to describe what you did in the process to get the new sound.

This is a game called The Secret World that I found on youtube.

Let me know what you think I could do better or focus on more. After listening to it in the studio I noticed the cry of the baby could have come down a bit and the headphones could been a bit more 'muffled.'
