My answer to “What is R.F. Hearing” is in the 22 page letter below. For those who do not have the time to read it, I will endeavor to summarize the technical aspects of R.F. Hearing. R.F. Hearing can be considered as a wireless synchronous demodulation of a voice modulated R.F. signal in the inner ear (cochlear, cochlear nerve, and audio cortex). No compression sound wave signal is needed to hear the voice, because in the inner ear, the sound is converted to an electrical signal (cochlear, cochlear nerve, audio cortex). Technically it is phase cancellation of two identical R.F. frequencies. One or both R.F. signals are amplitude modulated with the voice, and one of the R.F. signals is phase shifted 180 degrees. When both signals hit the inner ear, it cancels the R.F. signal portion, and leaves only the audio or voice to be heard in the inner ear. Because of the extremely longer wavelength of audio, the 180 degree shift in R.F. phase will not affect the audio phase in either modulated signal. This R.F. phase shifting can be accomplished accidentally, from what is called multi-path R.F. distortion. In this method of R.F. Hearing voice generation, only one voice amplitude modulated R.F. signal is transmitted. The one voice amplitude modulated R.F. signal hits the inner ear. At the same time the inner ear gets hit by the same signal after it reflects off an object. This reflected signal (multi-path signal) has its phase changed (or delayed) by 180 degrees from the time delay or from the reflection impact or both. The two R.F. signals would then cancel out and leave the voice signal in the inner ear to be heard. The object that causes the R.F. reflection (multi-path) may even be the inside of the human skull. Because of the randomness of the multi-path R.F. signals, the ability to generate a consistent voice or a voice on demand is extremely difficult. This is why some people have heard this kind of R.F. Hearing as only ticks and pops, or hearing the voice only monetarily. The conditions of the reflecting of the R.F. signal changes and the voice is lost quickly. The R.F. multi-path randomness allows R.F. phase cancellation only momentarily at best, thus the ticks and pops. As an example turn on an A.M. broadcast radio and tune through the stations as fast as you can, it will sound like ticks and pops, or like momentary phase cancellation voice sounds. R.F. Hearing, voice on demand and continuous voice in operation can be accomplished by transmitting two voice amplitude modulated R.F. signals into the inner ear. One is phase shifted 180 degrees while being transmitted. When both R.F. signals hit the inner ear, the R.F. cancels, and the voice is heard. Phase lock the R.F. generators to assure stability. Tune the phase of the R.F. signals until maximum voice is heard.. You must use two separate R.F. signals, with separate antennas, or the phase shifted amplitude modulated R.F. signals will cancel in the common circuits or common antenna. There is also a minimum R.F. threshold signal, before R.F. Hearing can be heard. You have to adjust the R.F. signal levels, until R.F. Hearing occurs. There are other ways of generating R.F. Hearing, but this is the fundamental method. Others have fallen short, because they attempted to use the single signal R.F. multi-path method, which is extremely unreliable. The United States Government has used the R.F. Hearing on Demand method (two R.F. transmitted signals) since approximately 1983, in orbiting and geosynchronous satellites, for the purposes of spying and space based electronic biological weapons development (using different kinds of modulation other than just voice). I urge you to read the letter below that I sent to my U.S. Congressman and Senator on October 15, 2012. Please spread this important information to others.

I am an R.F./Microwave electronics engineer with 40 years of professional experience, including many years in the aerospace industry, designing, and developing electronics and antennas for satellites and radar systems. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, from the Polytechnic Institute of N.Y.U., and Graduate Studies in electro physics at the University of Southern California. Can you please distribute this letter to all the members of the United States Congress, and Senate, and any other people? As you read this document, it is being distributed world wide. I have decided to leave some very sarcastic comments in this letter, because it is very difficult to not show some emotion due to the activities I have endured, for over 34 years. A similar letter to this one was given to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency on March 26, 2012. It was placed in their internet contact information box. It was signed at that time as anonymous.

In 1984/1985, I informed President Ronald Regan, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Senate, and the FBI about a radar spy satellite system that was being utilized on me. In addition it functioned as a space based electronic biological weapon system that was also being utilized on me, and that tortured me, and generated R.F. Hearing (human voice) audio signals in my ears. For the balance of this letter, if I mention the words satellite, satellite system, satellite spy system, or spy satellite system, it will mean the same as satellite spy system, and satellite electronic biological weapon system, and a R.F. Hearing voice generation satellite system, as a whole. Many of these satellites were originally used as ICBM launch detection and tracking radar satellite systems (multi use technology). I was essentially ignored. They covered up for the U.S. Government, the users like the C.I.A., the U.S. military, the Secret Service, NSA, and F.B.I., out sourced groups, foreign countries, individuals, and the manufacturers of these satellite systems such as corporations like Boeing Company (including Hughes Aircraft Co., Rockwell, McDonnell Douglas, and General Dynamics), Northrop-Grumman (TRW), Lockheed, Loral, GE, Raytheon, and Ford Aerospace etc. Some of these corporations were the prime contractors, others were subcontractors, and some submitted bids on these contracts. Other corporations worked on support products and technologies, spin offs, and later generations of these products. The U.S. Government, and these corporations, and with government approved foreign countries, groups, university level research, and individuals have used this multi use satellite technology under the disguise of medical, biological, communications research, and may have given study, and technology development grants or contracts, or other shifty out sourcing of spying and other scamming methods by the U.S. Government as a front to off load criminal and financial responsibilities so it will allow them to continue in the development, manufacturing,, operations, and funding of these spy and electronic biological weapons satellite systems and allow the continuance with their unabated activities against others and myself. Some small examples of such study grants are given for medical research such as cancer research using R.F. Ablative cancer cures, blood purification by R.F. heating, etc., communications systems and technology research and development etc. These satellites transmit audio modulated R.F. signals that hit the people on the ground and reflect off of the human vocal cord or throat, and other body signals, and bounce back to a receive satellite (located at the reflected angle) and then these voice modulated by human vocal cord signals are transmitted (down linked) through a satellite transponder to a ground terminal or receiver to listen to spied on conversations. This does not preclude a single satellite using a one antenna radar system. These satellite signals can penetrate deep into the ground, deep into water, or very dense buildings, bomb shelters, etc. to gather voice information. These satellites are also used as a space based electronic biological weapon, using the technology of R.F. Hearing utilizing wireless synchronous demodulation (explained later), as the method to generate an electronic biological weapons grade modulated R.F. signals. This will generate a human voice directly into the human ear, or torture or kill people, by using an adequate amount of R.F. power that is suitably modulated, transmitted and then demodulated in the targeted victims.

Because of the activities that I have had to endure for over 34 years, the following contracts were created to gain justice and payment for services rendered. I was not going to be the test slave for the U.S.A. like the U.S. Government experiments on black people in Tuskegee, Alabama, and the U.S. Government bacterial warfare studies in the New York City subway system. When the U.S. Government and all associated parties direct and indirect (co-conspirators) and non-associated parties direct and indirect (co-conspirators) decided to continue the use of these satellite spy systems and R.F. Hearing voice generation satellite systems, and electronic biological weapon satellite systems on me, after I told them to leave, they persisted on using these satellite systems on me. I complained to my employer, Hughes Aircraft Company (now part of Boeing Company) about these satellite systems and was terminated. Hughes Aircraft Company was the contractor or one of the sub-contractors that made these satellite systems. The U.S. Government and all others (co-conspirators) persistence in the use of these satellite systems on me, legalizes my contracts with all parties, for forcing me to participate in rendering to them my services at the specified money and legalities as specified in the contract terms. Any further inputs by the U.S. Government and all others (co-conspirators) direct and indirect are irrelevant, as specified in the agreed upon contracts. Your despicable behavior makes every term in the following contracts more than just. Your “U.S. Government system, to the highest levels” does not work, when it is the “U.S. Government system, to the highest levels’ that is the cause of it, and perpetuates and protects these activities. This is further exacerbated when the plurality in the country think (prejudicially) their country can do no wrong. These strategic satellite spy, and satellite electronic biological weapons, and satellite R.F. Hearing voice generation systems are handed down from U.S. President to U.S. President, like all strategic weapons. Time proven behavior patterns of all the Presidents of the U.S.A. since Jimmy Carter have shown they will all use this space based strategic satellite spy and electronic biological weapons system in the same manner. This action secures the activities of this process against many others and me. Your desire to sacrifice the few for the many shall not go unabated. Your prejudicial medical community’s belief as to having the only answer to this matter at hand, only confirms the necessity of my course of action. In fact you, the U.S. Government, and the U.S. military, and C.I.A., F.B.I., N.S.A., and all other associated parties direct and indirect, and non associated parties direct and indirect, depend on it. You use your satellite systems of subversion as mentioned above and bellow, to simulate the conditions that your medical world want to hear, to perpetuate your activities. Your inevitable use of the term, “done for the defense of the U.S.A.”, or for freedom, will be self defeating. Your actions are driven by fear, lust for control and power, and love of money, political lobbying and pork barreling, hate, prejudice, science and even curiosity, and many other desires, but in the end it is unacceptable justification for your activities. My contract and its terms are appropriate to my defense and payment for services rendered. Your operatives seem to persist in their activities regardless of the disclosed legal and financial requirements of this contract. I notified some of the people using and making this satellite spy system on me that the following contract was established, on April 1, 1985 (retroactive to 1978). They were told to notify all corporations (including all those mentioned above and below) and the peoples involved with these satellite systems in any way manner or form, and the United States Government, that they are all part of this contract, with me. Not doing so, will not absolve any corporations and peoples and the U.S. Government of any financial and legal culpability to this contract. This contract at that time was for the amount of $10 million U.S. dollars, terms are for every 10 seconds of my life, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week, continuous operation. Total money is cumulative. (i.e. $20 million for 20 seconds of use, $30 million for 30 seconds of use, etc.). Each pays a full share of the contract money. All money paid to me shall be tax free, fees free, no bankruptcy is allowed for all who are part of this contract with me, and all legal rights are waived (except mine), for all involved in any way manner or form with my contract. Payment is in CASH. Ignorance to the existence of being part of the contract is no excuse to avoid payment of contract money owed to me and any specified legal stipulations. Any legal expenses incurred by me will be paid in advance, by those who are part of this contract with me as mentioned above. The U.S. Government uses these satellites, and paid for them. They know all about the satellites, and what they do, and what orbits and frequencies they use and coordinate all missile launches, etc. This is true, because nobody can launch a missile large enough to send up a satellite, in the United States, without notification, and getting the approval of the U.S. Government. A satellite cannot be deployed in space, without notifying the U.S government of the intended frequencies to be used, the flight plan of the satellite and the purpose of the satellite, and must get U.S. government approval for its use. National security issues shall not be allowed to interfere with the activities of this contract or the terms of this contract. All other issues that interfere with this contract shall be considered null and void if it interferes with the activities and terms of this contract in any way manner or form. The amount of money in the contract was raised, in September 11, 1993 to $30 million dollars per 10 seconds of my life, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. Use is continuous. This contract was sent out on September 11, 1993 to many parties. They were told to notify the U.S. Government and all others about this contract change and the existence of the contract, and that they are part of this contract, and to inform others of the terms of the contract. The other terms are the same as in the 1985 contract. On December 13, 1996, the contract was increased in money, to $100 million dollars for every ten seconds of my life. Time of use was continuous. Other terms are the same as the 1985 and 1993 contracts. The reason I had to do this in December 13, 1996 was because on May 20, 1996 I was robbed by two men, of all of my copies of issued contracts, logs, and all other information regarding this satellite spy system being used on me. As I chased the robbers in the street, I heard the words yelled into my ears from this satellite voice generation system, “Here he comes again”. The robbers were about 20 feet in front of me, and getting into their car. It sounded from the words said into my ears and the loudness of the words that it was really said as a warning to the robbers that I was getting near them. It sounded like they were warning the thieves. The thieves were too far away from me to have said the words, as loud as the ones I heard in my ears. Some how, I heard what was said to the two robbers. The satellite may have had its signals crossed, or the R.F. signals were set to a wide area of coverage with a very high voice modulated R.F. signal level so that all three of us heard it. In addition I was severely beaten up by these two men. A police report was taken, and medical hospitalization was needed and recorded. Both of these men had flat top crew cuts (hair), and were dressed in army clothing with white T shirts and black camouflaging on their faces. They may have been U.S. military or C.I.A. Because of the continued activity of continuous use of these satellites on me, to this very date, by the users of these satellites and the U.S. government, the price of the contract has been raised to many infinities of US dollars. There are more numbers of multipliers of infinities of U.S. dollars for this contract than there are stars in your satellite filled sky. Money shall keep going up until all the money is paid to me in cash. Other terms are the same as in the 1985, 1993 and 1996 contracts. It is actually higher in amounts of money and other items, but detailed descriptions are too lengthy to describe here. They are all indicated in my logs. Payment of these contracts is immediate, not posthumously as some people using this R.F. Hearing voice generation, and satellite spy system said to me. This statement would be a confession by the U.S. Government and all, for using this satellite spy and electronic biological weapons system on me. This attempt to alter the contract raises the contract money to many more infinities of U.S. dollars. This is one of the terms of this contract. Any attempt to alter the contract other than myself raises the amount of money in the contract. As of this date, I have not received any of the contract money owed to me. Because of this, the money owed to me is increased to many more infinities of U.S. dollars continually, until all the contract money is paid to me. Payment is immediate. This letter is a reminder to you, United States Government, and all associated parties direct and indirect, and all non associated parties direct and indirect, that I have a money contract with you for using these satellite systems on me and you are liable for all legal and financial matters specified. Details are as mentioned in the text of this letter and in my logs on this subject, and any information verbally conveyed by me to those using this satellite spy system on me, and as I recall it. It is also to inform you, the United States Government, that I am aware of these satellite spy systems that you use, and that you use on me, and essentially I know how they work (though not necessarily limited to say that this is the only way it may work). The users of these spy satellite systems shall be responsible and obligated to notify all associated parties direct and indirect and non associated parties direct and indirect about this contract, and all its terms and contents, and any changes to the contract in any way manner or form. They are also obligated to tell these same parties that they shall be part of this contract. Ignorance of the existence of the contract shall not be an excuse for not paying the money owed to me (Tom). Each shall pay a full share of the contract money owed to me (Tom). Any changes to the contract can only be specified by me (Tom). Any attempts to change the contract by anyone other than me (Tom), shall raise the contract money owed to me (Tom). The raising of the level of the contract money and terms of the contract has been specified verbally, in writing, and in my personal logs by me (Tom), and is a legal form of notification to any increases in the amount of the contract money and the terms of the contract to all those involved with this contract. No bankruptcy is allowed, and all legal rights are waived by all parties except mine (Tom). Any U.S. Government, and local government attempts to levy any legal and financial encumbrances on me (Tom), shall be canceled and disallowed, and any costs concerning any legal activities that Tom incurs shall be paid in advance to Tom, immediately by the U.S. Government and all other parties involved including the judicial branch of the U.S. Government and local governments, with respect to all matters in this letter, all contracts, and my logs. Typo or incorrect grammar will not alter the intent of the contract information. I have the right to alter exact wording or meaning if needed, to cover any loop holes that will lessen my contract money in any way manner or form. You, the U.S. Government and all do not have any right to interpret or alter contract information, or anything else. Money numbers can only go up, never down. So tell your legal staff's to go to hell.

How is your spy satellite systems and electronic biological weapons satellite systems doing, U.S. Government? It uses the technological concepts that was invented and used in the 1950’s on land based radar spying equipment. The U.S. Government is fully aware of these historical facts, as specified by the late U.S. political figure, Mr. Henry Cabot Lodge. He was the United Nations representative for the United States at that time. The U.S. Military, took the next step, and took the high ground (as all U.S. military strategists always do) and put it into a satellite. This satellite spy system is used in the frequency range of approximately 100MHz to 600MHz (but not necessarily limited to this frequency range). Higher frequencies can be used, but it limits the ability of the R.F. signal in penetrating objects, such as buildings, ground, water, bomb shelters, armored vehicles, nuclear submarines, ICBM missile silos, etc. It is based on the principles of radar, using separate receive, and transmit antennas located on separate satellites. In this case, standard communications satellites can be used as radar satellites. One transmitter satellite (low altitude orbital or geosynchronous) has to transmit at a specified frequency and incident azimuth angle and incident elevation angle, and the receiver satellite (low altitude orbital or geosynchronous) receives the reflected signal (reflected off of the targeted person) at the reflected azimuth and reflected elevation angle at the same specified frequency. This is not to preclude any standard, one antenna radar satellite system, but this may draw more attention, and compromise clandestine space spy operations, and make it more susceptible to R.F. jamming. It will also force you to call it a radar satellite in the record books, instead of calling it a standard communications satellite, but secretly using it as a radar spy satellite. Dr. Norman Stanley Namerow's U.S. patent 3,483,860 covers some of the basic technology used in this satellite spy system. Instead of using this patent as specified by Namerow, to reflect the heart beat out of a person, to monitor the heart, the incident R.F. signal as used in this case reflects off of the human vocal cords or throat (like using a wireless, and invisible throat microphone), and the incident signal becomes modulated with the human voice information. The signal in this spy application is then reflected back to the receive satellite, located at the reflected angle position. Touch the front of your neck when you speak. You will feel the vibrations from the vocal cords. These are the vibrations that modulate the incident transmitted R.F. signal, and is reflected off the targeted person and back to the receive satellite. This received signal is then transmitted down to a ground station (down linked) for monitoring of conversations. If a person is not talking, the incident R.F. signal can be modulated by the signals going to the vocal cords, which come from the brain, and is essentially "reading the persons thoughts". Because of this, the only difference between thought and speaking is "blowing air through the vocal cords", from the lungs, simultaneously. This was confirmed at the NASA, Ames Research Center, and at the Ambient Corporation. They called it subvocal recognition. Ambient was able to hear the thoughts of a non speaking person by picking up the signals of a persons vocal cord, with a probe attached to the skin, at the throat. If they use the CIA/U.S. Government radar approach (similar to Namerow's patent) the subvocal recognition signal, or vocal cord signal will modulate the incident R.F. signal sent from a satellite, and reflect out the R.F. signal modulated by the subvocal recognition signal from the targeted person, to a receive satellite located at the reflected angle position. Then it would be down linked to a radio receiver. The modulated R.F. signals can then be demodulated in the receiver so the thought-voice vocal cord modulated R.F. signal can then be heard as a thought-voice sound signal. This is equivalent to using radar to hear the thoughts of a human being. The frequency of the R.F. signal being used also depends on the application, such as spying (vocal cord reading), voice generation (R.F. Hearing), and electronic biological weapons. Lower R.F. frequencies can be used for vocal cord reading, if there is a solid ground under the person. It allows R.F. bounce back off the ground surface, after the R.F. passes through the vocal cords and the R.F. becomes modulated by the voice information in the vocal cords. This will generate a stronger reflected voice modulated R.F. signal.

I believe the following information is extremely important to my re-invention of the U.S. Government concept of R.F. Hearing by utilizing wireless synchronous demodulation of voice modulated R.F. signals. This concept was originally invented by the technology research groups of the U.S. Government, the Central Intelligence Agency and the private corporations that made the satellites that utilized this invention. It is basically an out growth of the development of an audio tone modulated R.F. signal, to help track a person while being spied on by the vocal cord or throat reading spy satellite radar system mentioned above. In addition, other human biological signals are picked up at the same time to help isolate the tracking of targeted human subjects. A person working on the spy satellite tracking technology, then thought, if the targeted subject can hear the tracking tone, then why not connect a microphone in parallel with the audio tone generator, and transmit a voice with the tracking tone. The targeted subject will then hear the voice as well as the audio tracking tone directly in the ear, without the use of a radio receiver. This lead to the despicable using of radar as a generator of R.F. Hearing voice generation, torture, and killing activities by the U.S. Government, and its operatives. R.F. Hearing is the concept of generating a R.F. signal modulated by the human voice. This voice modulated R.F. signal is then transmitted into the human body, and the human voice is heard directly without the need of a radio receiver, or any other physical or electronic instrumentation. R.F. Hearing has been well documented by many distinguished people of science, such as Alan H. Frey, James P. O’loughlin, James C. Lin, Joseph C. Sharp, Robert O. Becker, and many others. The problem with the prior art of for R.F. Hearing as invented by Alan H. Frey (patented), and James P. O’loughlin (patented) was the requirement of high R.F. power to implement the design, and the ability to generate a R.F. Hearing voice, on DEMAND. The government approach is more reliable, efficient, and much better for clandestine operations. In order to improve the efficiency, and the stability of the R.F. Hearing voice reception, the United States Government, and all associated parties, direct and indirect, and corporations, invented a concept that is based on an ingenuous application of a simple radio reception technology to accomplish this task. I was able to re-invent this ingenuous approach, by utilizing reverse engineering. My original re-invention took first form in May 10, 2008. I first thought it was just simply transmitting two R.F. signals with the same frequency, and mixing these two R.F. signals in the human inner ear (cochlear, cochlear nerve, and audio cortex). I even thought of a synchronous demodulator at that same time, but I thought it was still an incomplete idea, and needed questions answered. I thought when all my questions would be answered then all the various solutions would converge to one answer. On March 26, 2012, I decided to send a letter to the C.I.A., through their internet website, and tell them about their using this satellite spy system on me, and about my contract, and money owed to me by the U.S. Government and all others (mentioned above). While inputting my letter to tell the C.I.A., I started to think about the idea of pre-distortion of R.F. signals, and phase shifting identical R.F. sine waves so the R.F. sine waves would cancel out. It then all came together. Use amplitude modulation to modulate one of two identical phase locked R.F. signals with a voice. Then pre-distort one of the signals with a 180 degree phase shift. Then transmit both R.F. signals. When both R.F. signals hit the inner ear of the targeted person, they will mix or cancel out in the inner ear, and leave only the difference between the two R.F. signals, the voice amplitude modulation signal, or the human voice. The 180 degree phase shifter has to be adjusted so the 180 degree phase shift occurs in the inner ear. This is needed because various objects in the path of R.F. transmission may cause the phase to change. Other forms of amplitude modulation can be used. Even frequency modulation (F.M.) should work. A synchronous demodulator works as an F.M. detector. The method explained above is the basic principle of R.F. Hearing Utilizing Wireless Synchronous Demodulation. You may actually be able

A few weeks ago I was alone in my room. It was totally quiet. However, I kept hearing a low (or should I say high) pitched whine. To me it sounded electrical. I thought it was coming from my laptop but it seemed distant. When I put my ear to it it didn't sound like it was coming from it. The air conditioner was on so I wrote it off as that's what it was since it seemed squeaky in the attic when it ran. I didn't remember hearing it again for a real long time. Now I'm hearing the same type of low pitched ring again. AC isn't on. Could it be RF or tinnitus??? It's not so bad that it causes me to not sleep or have certain side effects...but it does annoy me in a way that I know it's "there" and it won't stop. If someone's talking to me or if there's another noise that over powers it I usually don't notice it though. I'm only 27, should I be freaking out? I have been to lots of loud shows in my life time but I haven't been to a show in about a month.

I have a problem in my flat where I can hear a high-pitched noise, sometimes more clearly and it gives me headaches. How can this be measured. The managing agents cannot hear it. It is like a transmittor/ radio frequency and it affects my concentration.

We do have an Otange aerial on the roof but I am on the ground floor.

I would be extremely graateful for any advice and practical suggestions.

I'm not sure what everyone else hears, but there's four types of noise I do hear that seems like few others can hear.

1. flyback transformer noise. I don't hear this nearly as often as when everyone had CRT televisions, but I still own a CRT and I never turn it on because I can hear it, even when it's "off" It sits unplugged. It can be described as a very loud high pitch noise that can be confused for tinnitus. Going to another floor or room withthe doors shut is sufficient for muting it. I also hear...
2. Electronic "charging" noise. In one example the power supply brick for my laptop makes this noise if the laptop is off, but the charger is plugged in. It's so irritating that I actually prefer the sound of the laptop being ON to hearing the charge noise. It is however not that loud. Similarly, it sounds like the noise when a camera flash is being charged, only between two high pitch points.
3. Dog Whistles. I can't even describe what this sounds-feels like. Someone pointed one at me and it felt like my ears were rattling along with a buzzing feeling. It's more painful than actual sound.
4. A loud tinnitus-like noise, only it's not a solid tone like tinnitus, rather it's a vaguely "noisy" tone that seems to bounce between two frequencies. I can hear it in certain locations if there's no overpowering noise.

I lived under powerlines until graduating high school. I don't think there is a connection as the power lines made a different kind of noise.

I hear "electrical noise/current", that's the only way I can describe the sounds; sometimes it even has an irritating, repetitive rythm to it. My form of tinnitus includes the frequent repition of a line of music, which could be from a song I haven't thought of or heard since childhood, that gets stuck in my head.

I distinctly remember relaxing on the couch about 10 years ago and all of a sudden I had a head full of noise. The noise never, ever, ever goes away but the volume changes from time to time. The condition affects my sense of balance, my ability to sleep and my ability to concentrate; it can make me feel ill, exhausted, depressed and so much more. Believe me, all of this could drive a person crazy, no joke.

Any outside sound that "competes" with the noise in my head can be very grating, particularly high pitched sounds, repetitive clicking or clanking or too many sounds going on at once, as in a busy cafeteria. Some of these sounds litterally hurt my head, my teeth, and even my skin.

If any one out there finds a cure PLEASE let me know! LOL

@ 47 I now know I'm not crazy! My RF hearing is when planes are flying by, & im always right. If there is one close by, I will hear the jet engines of the plane within 10 sec. of hearing the radio frequency. Has anyone else made this connection?

I did my USC grad thesis doc on the Microwave Auditory Effect (V2K:Voice To Skull), and interviewed two prominent scientists involved in the research, including the as of yet, only person to have been cited in "open" literature to have heard speech encoded and sent via microwaves.

The phenom happens in the 3gig range, occurs as clicks, whirs, and pops. For speech, microwave pulses have to be strung into tones, then tones strung into words. For sustained speech, youd be facing the aforementioned "cooking".

I don't think I have any supernatural hearing. I can hear CRTs like a knife in my brain and I can hear noise from my lcd monitors but not much else. I've found HF whine in mastered music and in a lot of behind the scenes studio footage. Real nasty.

I've been hearing this for many years and the same frequency follows everywhere I go so it's not something in another room. If there is a lot of other noise, I don't hear it unless I concentrate on it. Recently, I started using a BodyMedia like the Body Bug from 24 hour fitness and I could hear that the first few days as I came out of deep sleep. It was definitely a lower pitch RF monitoring my brain waves inside my head. Their spec is 2400Hz. I'm guessing that my brain drew it into it's own frequency and now is vibrating at the same rate - much higher (5000Hz?) My brain is not being microwaved because it would have exploded by now!

There is also The Hum which some people hear - never been to the places mentioned so can't comment personally.

The wikipedia article linked by endolith and the paper linked to by Pretaeperon both suggest that it's due to tissue in the head heating up (a millionth of a degree C) and expanding, sending an audible wave through your own head. So basically you hear your own head being microwave-cooked.

Both articles also suggest that in order to hear RF, you need to be exposed to a lot of transmitted power, to the point where it starts to be unhealthy (the wikipedia article refers to people standing within 100 meters from a Cold War radar antenna, and experiencing side effects such as dizziness and headache. I'm no biologist, but I can safely say that's not good for you). So yeah, at those hazardous situations you might hear something extra, but that's a very long way from typical everyday household or work environments where RF radiation is orders of magnitude weaker.

I'm sure you're not hearing RF from your LCD. Record it with a microphone and look on a spectrum analyzer, and you'll just see some tones in the kHz from the backlight electronics.

Is that Johnson–Nyquist noise?

Usually you can hear capacitors charging and firing rapidly. That noise is real. A friend of mine was doing research with an electron microscope - thousands of capacitors firing at once when it's up to speed - and I though my teeth were going to explode. Most people walked into the room and heard silence.

I doubt they're actually hearing radio frequencies, more likely they're hearing a high-pitched electrical noise from one of the components and mistaking it for the electrical field. No component is ideal, and there is always some energy lost to an extra process (heat, noise, etc.). I've always been able to tell when a TV is on in the next room (even if its muted), be it CRT or LCD. All electrical appliances make some sort of high-pitched noise when they have power running through them. It's just a question of which component, what the frequency output is, and whether or not you've protected your ears well enough to still be able to hear them.

There's also the myth of people being able to pick up and hear actual radio broadcast through replacement teeth, caps and fillings. I don't remember what their results were, but Mythbusters tackled that one. :)

Addtional Info: A lot of people here are mentioning that they can hear electronics when they're plugged in, powered on, etc. I think it's important to note that this is pretty common for anyone who has protected their ears over the years (including myself), and those frequencies that you're hearing are not above 20k. Are there frequency components above there? Yes...but you're just hearing the fundamentals, just the harmonics. Keep in mind that no electrical process runs in an ideal state. Almost all electronics give off heat, meaning that the electrical current is causing friction within the conductor. Friction equals a form of vibration, equals sound production. I'm beyond skeptical of this idea. Afterall, there are some forms of tinnitus that are not tied to hearing loss (meaning without damage to the inner ear). The human brain is a funky thing that can malfunction just like any other electrical device. If it can cause tinnitus without trauma to the ear, isn't it safe to assume that it can cause you to perceive other high frequency sounds by itself?
