I think Wordpress is a great, flexible tool for web development. You can easily customise the many free templates that are available and there are a lot of great tutorials on how to develop further. The main advantages are that it's free, allows you to get quite deep if you want to develop your site yourself and it will display on iOS platform - iPhone, iPad - (unlike flash sites). My website is a Flash-based site but my blog is using Wordpress. As for hosting, you can develop a Wordpress website using their online platform and this gives you more official support, but your web address will be something like wordpress.org/blablabla. If it's for professional services it's much better to have your own domain name. |

You can use Blogger or WordPress. They are free and build on powerful blog based. I thing one of these will suit your needs. You don't need domain name and hosting server. If you want/need more complex site, with your own domain name, there are a lot free CMS (content management system). You just need to instal them on your site. Two most commonly used are Drupal and Joomla. They are easy to instal and use, and more powerful then blog-based sistem. My site Cvrgoje Sound is build with Drupal. If you need more help just ask! |

I would say WordPress is your best bet if you're not used to CMS. Joomla and Drupal get very complicated once you get into the modules and for a beginner you really don't want the hassle. I would encourage your own domain name and web space. Many hosts now use automatic installation programs for WordPress etc, for easy editing and management. Overall its very cheap to host your own domain and easy to maintain. |

I agree with Colin... buy your own domain name. You should also find someone to host it. Site5 is very competitive with their prices, and very stable. About your blog, I think Wordpress is very cool (and not to mention... FREE). I don't like Blogger, because it adds those pesky links to other blog sites. And sometimes, those links can take you to some undesirable websites. You should also consider other venues, like social network type websites. You can create a company page with Facebook, LinkedIn... and you can also publish (upload) your work on SoundCloud. The more the merrier! if you don't mind the extra work. |

If you are a Mac user take a look at Rapidweaver from realmacsoftware. It's extremely easy to use and you can be up and running pretty quick. I played with WordPress to begin with but was lured in by the simplicity of Rapidweaver (although you do have to purchase the program). My site BottleRocketFx was built with Rapidweaver. |

Notepad! That's my HTML/PHP/CSS editor of choice. You can find some very nice templates and alter them to fit your needs. For registering domains and setting up webmail, I've always used Register4Less. They let you direct FTP your site in and have about 5 megs of free web hosting storage, usually enough for a simple site. If you need more hosting, Php Webhosting is a great site for hosting - $10 a month, no limit on storage or bandwidth.. supports wordpress, etc. Great guy. Btw, if you want to look at a simple example, I used a template I found online, altered it, and popped it up on the free hosting for register4less. You are free to peek at the code. www.waitmovie.com |

If you want a really easy to use, drag and drop start from scratch or start from template flash site - use wix.com You need a domain name - but you can get it through wix if you want to do a one stop shop. Wix.com is free if you want your page to be named www.wix.com/yournamehere but you will need to pay for your own domain AND use their basic package thats available. Its pretty cheap considering what you get for the money. |

Hi,To setup a professional website all you have to do is choose a good domain name for your site and get it register to a provider. Here i would recommend you to use the TheWebPole.com where you can get your domain registered at low cost and after getting a domain get the website builder from the same site and design your own website, here you don't need any technical knowledge or script knowledge to design your website .By getting the website builder from the site you will get a free hosting service with 50GB disk space and 1000GB bandwidth. |

I built my site on godaddy. I just used a really basic template they had available and added in some graphics I designed. Keep it simple, and keep it clean was the philosophy I went with. Feel free to check it out for inspiration, steelesound.com |
